Cison di Valmarino Orange flag in Veneto

The recognition of the Italian Touring Club for villages of excellence
A new village certified by Touring with the Orange Flag. It is that of Cison di Valmarino, in the province of Treviso, which joins the other nine already certified in Veneto, third in the province of Treviso. Cison can therefore boast the prestigious award, assigned to other 235 villages throughout Italy.
Here is the rationale for the award: “The town has valuable, various, usable and well-preserved monuments and a characteristic historic center. The numerous events and structures present (restaurants, farmhouses, wineries …) make it lively. The promotion of the naturalistic resources present in the area is good and the efficient indication signs make it possible to easily reach accommodation, restaurants and producers. “

WHAT TO SEE IN CISON DI VALMARINO

At the foot of the Treviso Pre-Alps, Cison di Valmarino (2632 inhabitants) is a town rich in historical and artistic beauties that combine with a well-preserved nature to be experienced with trails, Nordic walking routes and cycle and horse riding itineraries. Its jewel is Castelbrando, the 2000-year-old fortress placed on a spur overlooking the town: partly hotel and congress center, it can still be visited through two guided tours of your choice and offers various museum spaces.
The historic center is also characteristic; in Piazza Roma stand out the late Baroque parish church, the La Loggia theater, the particular Museum of vintage radio and the town hall. For those who love walking in nature, the Via dei Mulini climbs from the center along the Rujo stream up to the San Daniele Valley and the Bosco delle Penne Mozze, which recalls the fallen Alpini born in the province of Treviso, while the 100 days road with a magnificent route for panorama and technique leads up to the San Boldo pass.

PRODUCTS, TRADITIONS AND EVENTS

The area of Cison di Valmarino is that of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore wine, to be tasted and purchased in the various wineries in the area. To be tasted perhaps together with buzholà, the historic round biscuits with a central hole, made with egg yolks, flour and butter. Another specialty of the local cuisine is the spit: a local dish prepared with pork, chicken and rabbit.

The calendar of events in the village is very rich and varied. In March there is Assaporando Cison, an exhibition of local food and wine with demonstrations, tastings, meetings with experts and artisans of taste. The Enchanted Wood on the Waterways is staged on the occasion of April 25: it is an open-air party dedicated to music, theater, poetry and various arts, which ends on May 1 at the Loff refuge, with the concert at dawn, an evocative combination of sunrise and music. In summer, here is the Artigianato Vivo review in August, with arcades, courtyards, squares that house the shops and stalls of the artisans and the opportunity to try their hand at workshops and taste the typical products. Stars of Christmas is instead the appointment with the Christmas markets, when there are almost 130 artisans scattered along the streets of the town, in the houses, inside the historic buildings.

THE ORANGE FLAGS

What is the Orange Flag? Among the many activities in favor of the Italian cultural and historical heritage, the Italian Touring Club since 1998 selects, certifies and promotes with the Orange Flag, a tourist-environmental quality mark, the excellent villages (with less than 15,000 inhabitants) of the hinterland. The initiative is developed in complete coherence with the nature and history of Touring, in line with all its initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism development, where the protection of the territory and heritage is connected to the authenticity of the travel experience. .
