The Birthplace and the Museum of St. Pius X

The Birthplace and the Museum of St. Pius X recall the figure of St. Pius X – Giuseppe Sarto, born in Riese (Treviso) in 1835 and pope from 1903 to 1914. Inside the museum, which houses personal objects that belonged to Pius X , an exhibition illustrates the life of the pope venerated all over the world. The “little house”, as it is popularly called, has stood still over time. The last interventions are those carried out by the then Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto, a few years before becoming Pope. The furnishings and furniture are original, arranged in such a way as to recreate the small world of a rural town where the future holy pontiff lived the first years of his intense life. Visited every year by over 15 thousand people, the complex of the Birthplace and Museum of San Pio X is managed by the Giuseppe Sarto Foundation, founded in 1985 shortly after the visit of Blessed John Paul II to Riese Pio X on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of birth of Pius X and which is proposed as a center of studies and historical research on the figure and work of Pope Sarto.
