The Prosecco di Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site
A territory to be protected, preserved and transmitted
to future generations for cultural heritage

Sunday 7 July 2019. The Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene are a World Heritage Site. The 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which met in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, entered the Treviso Hills in the list of cultural and natural landscapes to be protected. A decision that was unanimously taken by the 21 member states of the Committee. The 97 square kilometers of vineyard slopes and villages of the Sinistra Piave between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene thus become the eighth Venetian site and the 55th Italian site under the aegis of the United Nations World Organization for Culture which protects a total of 1092 (now 1093 ) “unique” places in 167 countries. In this way, Italy further strengthens its primacy as a country with the largest number of sites registered in the world heritage register.
The UNESCO recognition confirms the unique value of the landscape of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Hills, the result of man’s work in harmony with nature.
Moavero: “Extraordinary interaction between production and nature”

This was confirmed by the words of Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi: “The splendid Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene are now the 55th Italian site registered in the Unesco World Heritage List”. All ten sites are evolutionary cultural landscapes, the visible result of which is the human-environment interaction, a vital interaction that is constantly evolving.
