Caorle will host the European Duathlon Championships from 17 to 19 March 2023

Caorle is becoming increasingly international. In 2023, in addition to the classic Europe Triathlon Cup (and Europe Triathlon Junior Cup) Venice – Caorle will also host the European Duathlon Sprint Élite and Age Group Championships and the European Duathlon Classic Age Group Championships. The assignment of Europe Triathlon Union confirms Caorle among the most important locations of the multi-discipline, not only nationally but also internationally.

After the debut, in 2021, with the most participated stage of the Europe Triathlon Cup ever on European soil, the great competitive success and participation has been confirmed again this year. On 12, 13 and 14 May 2023, Porto Santa Margherita will be the location of the European race for the third consecutive year. To enrich the commitment of Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto with the support of the Municipality of Caorle, in collaboration with Fitri and under the aegis of Europe Triathlon, the new prestigious assignment of the continental event dedicated to the duathlon (running, cycling), which will be held on 17, 18 and 19 March. Over a period of two months, the Venetian seaside resort will be at the centre of the triathlon scene, with the top continental duathlon event (reserved for Élite, Under 23, Junior, Age Group and Paraduathletes) and with the important Europe Triathlon Cup, which has now established itself internationally, with participants also from overseas. Much satisfaction from all those involved.
“Our work, seriousness, professionalism, and our policy of small steps are paying off,” comments Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto president Aldo Zanetti. ”We started off quietly several years ago, explaining to the administrators of Caorle right from the start that we would, over time, bring beautiful events to an international level, and now these are arriving. It is a source of pride for us to be held in such high regard by our Federation and by the European one, and we will do everything we can to ensure that those who come to Caorle will be so comfortable that they will leave reluctantly. Our passion and that of all our volunteers will overcome any difficulties that may arise on these occasions from one moment to the next. I am even happier that our Governor sees in us and in Caorle a heritage to safeguard and support. There is a lot of work to be done and together with FITRI and the City of Caorle we must not waste a minute because March is after tomorrow and we must immediately pedal well and hard together to run straight to the goal.

“Let’s further strengthen the strong bond that has been created between Caorle and the multi-discipline – comments the Councillor for Sport of the Municipality of Caorle, Mattia Munerotto – in 2023 we will in fact host two of the main events at continental level for the Triathlon and Duathlon disciplines. In May, the Europe Triathlon Cup will return to Porto Santa Margherita and Lido Altanea, while in March, Caorle will be the stage for the European Elite and Age Group Duathlon Sprint Championships and the European Age Group Classic Duathlon Championships. These appointments are also important from a promotional point of view because they strengthen our image as a Sports City not only at the Italian level, but also at the European level. We are also continuing our more than fruitful collaboration with Silca Ultralite, which, with great professionalism, takes care of the organisation of these prestigious multi-discipline events from a sporting point of view’.
