Corritreviso
The classic 10 km road race canceled due to the pandemic in 2020 is back: route in the historic center, starting in Piazza Duomo. Registration open from May 4th. President Caldato: “Right to start again, event organized in absolute safety”
The great classic is ready to return. After having surrendered to the pandemic in 2020, Corritreviso launches the countdown for the 31st edition, scheduled for the evening of Friday 4 June. It will be the first Fidal road race to take place in a city in the Veneto region since the beginning of the health emergency. The distance? Ten kilometers for everyone. A challenge that Enrico Caldato, who has always led the organizing committee, absolutely wants to win.
“We will adhere to the Fidal protocol to organize an event in total safety – explains Caldato -. We will guarantee spacing, sanitation, access control to the competition area. The use of a mask will be mandatory for the first 500 meters of the race. The idea is to provide for two distinct starts, separating men and women, and ensuring that everyone can run with their peers, in order to safeguard the competitive comparison. Track athletics has already restarted last summer, the trails have resumed, it seems right to plan the return of road activity as well “.
In 2020, Corritreviso had to settle for a virtual edition, albeit highly appreciated (almost 600 subscribers), the result of the partnership with the RunBull app. Edition number 31, initially scheduled for June 12, had been moved to August 21, only to be permanently suspended as the health emergency continued. A fate common to the vast majority of races on Italian roads.
“We only have one month, but we will make it – continues Caldato, who received permission from the municipal administration last week to proceed with the organization of the event -. The idea is to move departure and arrival from Piazza dei Signori to Piazza Duomo, where the spaces are larger. The route will be partially redesigned to avoid penalizing the activity of bars and restaurants, but will continue to develop in the historic center and pass through Piazza dei Signori. The pleasure of running, under the stars, in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, will remain so “.
The start of the races is indicatively set for 20, and for this year the youth tests that in recent seasons constituted the prologue of the evening have been canceled. The opening of registrations is scheduled for Tuesday 4 May, when exactly one month will be missing at the Corritreviso of the rebirth.
