The deer is a rather elusive animal and sensitive to disturbance caused by human activities; occasional, generalized, and very “invasive” ones (e.g., mass tourism, overly “diligent” mushroom hunters, etc.) cause significant disruption, especially during particularly sensitive periods such as mating season.
The activity consists of setting up observation points in strategic locations and, using professional binoculars, observing the animals in their natural environment. With the support and guidance of our experts, this will be a very powerful and evocative experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the life of wild animals without disturbing them.
When: Monday to Friday, from September 23 to October 25, 2024.
Reservation: Reservations are mandatory and must be made at least one week in advance.
Group size: Minimum of 5 participants.
Minimum age: 10 years
Maximum age: Depending on personal mobility. Please note that the activity involves walking along uneven trails and sitting on the ground, staying still for about an hour and a half.
Clothing and Rules
It is mandatory to dress in layers of varying thickness, as the observation period requires staying in a fixed position for a long time. To increase the chances of spotting the animals, certain precautions must be followed:
- Avoid making noise; therefore, clothing should not be “technical.” Wool is recommended as it is insulating and warm. Down jackets and windbreakers are not allowed.
- Do not wear brightly colored clothing. Dark colors such as blue, black, brown, gray, and green are less noticeable to animals.
- Avoid strong scents. It’s better to wear clothes without fabric softener (leave the clothes you plan to wear out in the open air for a couple of days).
- Turn off sounds on cameras and phones, and do not use the flash.
- If you have a cold or cough, organize remedies to minimize symptoms.
- Try to make as little noise as possible during the walk to the observation point, preferably walking on grass and speaking softly.
To accommodate tourists, we have designed two options:
- “Evening Roar” option: includes a lesson and observation with binoculars -> €20 per person
- “At Dusk and Dawn” option: in addition to the Evening Roar program, this includes an observation session at dawn the next day -> €40 per person
- “From Dusk to Dawn” option: every Tuesday and Thursday, in collaboration with Lupi, Gufi e Civette. The fee in this case includes everything: lesson + observation at dusk and dawn + dinner + overnight stay + breakfast (on Wednesday or Friday) at the Rifugio Alpino Vallorch -> €100 per person
Meeting point: Pian Cansiglio BL (exact location to be agreed upon at the time of booking).
