Water is the protagonist of the new cycle of guided tours
In the months of August and September 2024
Even the Florentine poet Fazio degli Uberti – seven centuries ago – was fascinated by the beauty of Treviso and the large quantity of waters and fountains that he encountered, so much so that he dedicated to it, in his famous “Il Dittamondo”, the verse “We found Trevigi, on the path, that di chiare fountains tutta ride and of the pleasure of Love, that here is fine”.
And Treviso itself, the “city of waters”, crossed by splendid canals and numerous fountains that alternate in alleys and squares, will be the protagonist of the new cycle of guided tours “Treviso che di chiare fontane tutta ride”, a route designed by water that IAT Treviso centro and UNPLI Treviso are offering in the months of August and September.
The main fountains of Treviso will mark the stages of the guided tours “Treviso che di chiare fountainane tutta ride”, among which there will be the city symbol par excellence, the famous Fontana delle tette (Fountain of the Breasts) which, from 1559 to 1797, during the Serenissima Republic of Venice, marked each change of Podestà, making red wine gush from one breast and white wine from the other for three days, to the joy of the Treviso people who could drink it without limits and for free.
A new end-of-summer proposal that will make the wonderful city of Treviso known and appreciated even more but also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of that common good that is water.
