47 Anno Domini

47 Anno Domini
It all started with grandfather Batista. He had always known what he would do when he grew up: the agricultural entrepreneur. Returning from the poor front as he had started, he fielded what they could not take away from him: tenacity and even a little recklessness. He had such a large quantity of them that he managed to make his dream come true: he started his own business, first flanked by his children and then also by his grandchildren. Today I am the second and third generation to carry on this passion, much more than a job. The grandchildren Cristian and Andrea also followed their spark of recklessness, until they founded the third and youngest winery of the family: 47 Anno Domini. The name comes from the street in which it was born, Via Claudia Augusta, begun on the orders of the Emperor Augustus to connect Venice to the plains beyond the Brenner, and ended under the Emperor Claudius in 47 AD. The number 47 of our name derives from the year the street was inaugurated, which we celebrate with the walkway that follows the point where it was then.

In the middle of rows of vines, the winery rises. Designed so that rationality and aesthetics meet in a building different from any other, it presents itself as a material manifesto where wood, glass and steel remind us that everything comes from nature. The Eye, set in the facade of the cellar, is the large cantilevered window that seems to bend over the vineyards. The light filters through the large window, creating games on the internal walls and illuminating the welcoming rooms. This is the place where design, product innovation and aesthetics of taste find a home. Here a true conceptual revolution takes place, which makes the contrast between wine production and design aesthetics his signature. A new idea of the cellar, which pours love for aesthetics into the architecture of the building and the technology of the machinery used.

Our vines are nourished by a fertile, clayey soil, rich in mineral salts. But also difficult, complex to cultivate, hostile. Yet, it is these characteristics that instill a great personality in our wine, emphasizing the sweetness and intensity of the grapes. Traditional grape varieties such as cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, raboso and glera grow here. Each is revisited in different blends, giving rise to tasty interpretations. We cannot forget that Prosecco DOC is also born from these grapes, the first expression of our territory, which we produce in all its forms: sparkling and sparkling.
