Great anticipation for the Hunter’s Festival and 360-degree hunting activities

A shooting range will be set up for “Hunting, fishing, nature”. An entire pavilion for the Hunter’s Festival

As per tradition, the “Hunter’s Festival” will be the highlight of “Hunting, fishing and nature”, the exhibition of products and services for hunting, fishing and outdoor activities, taking place at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti over the weekend (11-12-13 April). The fair opens tomorrow afternoon, while the official inauguration, with the authorities, will be on Saturday at 12.
An entire pavilion will be dedicated to the festival, which this year has reached its 28th edition, with the exhibition of trophies from the hunting season of all the Belluno reserves, in addition to those – new for 2025 – of the Pedemontana trevigiana and the mountains of Lessinia veronese. Then, some reserves will set up food stands and cook typical products in a riot of taste.

GAME
Taste will also be addressed in some special focuses dedicated to game, on which the Province is working to create a meat processing chain.
Tomorrow (Friday 11 April), at 4:30 pm, the fair will begin with a conference on the game meat supply chain, organized by the Region, Province and Fondazione Una, with the participation of the Chefs Team Cortina.
On Saturday, there will be a triple appointment on the theme. At 2 pm, the meeting “Wild and good”, on the importance of a controlled supply chain, as a primary source of healthy, fair and sustainable food. At 3:30 pm, “Not just braised”, a focus on the versatility of game meat in the kitchen. And then at 5 pm, “The superpowers of wild meat”, on the extraordinary nutritional, organoleptic and gastronomic qualities of ungulates.

INSIGHTS
During the three days of the fair, some specific aspects will be explored in depth. On Saturday morning (at 10 am) there will be space for wildlife projects in the province of Belluno, with reports on the “Chamois Project on Monte Grappa” (which aims to observe how chamois are changing their habits based on the increase in temperature resulting from climate change), on the “Repopulation Project of the Alpine Ibex (Capra ibex) in the Antelao-Marmarole-Sorapis group, Rac San Vito” (for the conservation of biodiversity, which aims to increase the genetic variability of the Croda Marcora-Marmarole colony, in order to promote a more rapid colonization of the still unoccupied environments), and the project “Pastures of the high lands: a heritage to be safeguarded and regenerated” (which envisages, over a three-year period, the implementation of improvement interventions on the pastures and the relevant territories of 6 Belluno mountain huts).
On Sunday, the Province will present the report of the 2024-2025 hunting season with data on all the harvest plans.

SHOOTING TESTS
For expert hunters, there will also be the opportunity to test their aim. In Caralte, in fact, a shooting range has been set up. From 9:30 to 19:00 on Saturday, in collaboration with Benelli and Origin Voere, it will be possible to try out the best weapons. The shooting sessions are by reservation with a shuttle service reserved by Longarone Fiere Dolomiti.

FISHING
The competitions organized by the Maè-Piave Basin are sold-out. Great participation also for the third edition of the drawing competition “Adopt a watercourse – adopt a fish”: there were 223 drawings made by students from five primary schools (Auronzo, Calalzo di Cadore, San Gregorio nelle Alpi, Lamon and Sovramonte). The first thirty drawings voted by the technical jury will be awarded, while a special prize will be awarded to the drawing with the most votes from the popular jury who will be able to see the drawings exhibited at the fair in the Aps Pescatori Bellunesi stand (there were 500 voters in 2024) and express their preference. The technical jury is composed of Francesca Lauria Pinter – painter, Claudio Canova – Fondazione Fantastiche Dolomiti, Enrico De Col – journalist, Lisa Causin – Regione del Veneto and Stefano Vendrame – Provincia di Belluno. The awards ceremony for the competition will be held on Sunday 13 April at 11:30 in the Caccia Pesca e Natura meeting area.
