All about fishing at the fair in Longarone. From sports to cuisine that enhances freshwater fish

At Longarone Fiere Dolomiti there will also be an in-depth look at “hook and line” tourism

Fishing in the spotlight. The second pillar of “Hunting, fishing and nature”, the national event taking place at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti over the weekend (11-12-13 April), will be observed in all its facets: that of sports and hobby practice, but also from the point of view of tourism, given that thousands of fishermen from all over the world, including from overseas, come to the Belluno waterways every year. On Saturday 12, therefore, at 5 pm there will be the presentation of the new section of the website www.visitdolomitibellunesi.com dedicated to fishing tourism, with the map “Fishing in the Belluno Dolomites” that will be distributed in all the IAT and info points in the province.
This is an interesting theme, which involves all the fishing basins. The latest data in fact speak of around 3,500 resident and local fishermen, but of just as many who arrive with temporary fishing permits for the pure pleasure of trying hook and line with a view of the Dolomites and their feet in the waters of the Piave or the lakes of Belluno.

Then, following the presentation of fishing tourism, the educational projects “A River of Fish” and “Let’s Marmoriamo, a game along the waterways”, created by the Province of Belluno, will be illustrated.

INSIGHTS
Also on Saturday, in the afternoon, the regional councilor for hunting and fishing Cristiano Corazzari will talk about the project to reconstitute the state of the fish populations in the waters of Belluno following the Vaia storm. It will be a targeted conference, the one organized by the Region and the Province, to explain the progress of the project and also the work that Palazzo Piloni has implemented on the ichthyogenic centers of Tomo and Bolzano Bellunese, where the marble trout is selected.

THE KITCHEN
And how is trout promoted? Saturday morning (10-12) the “The river on the plate” competition will take place: a presentation of dishes made with river fish products by the students of the Enaip Veneto professional school in Longarone, organized by the Fishing Basin n. 6 Maè – Piave.
On Saturday, the Basin 6 will propose a fishing competition and a team spinning fishing meeting for brown trout with artificial bait in the Maè stream. And at lunchtime there will also be the “A river of flavors” tasting trail that will please those with a sweet tooth: these are proposals for cicchetti based on rainbow trout to enhance a local raw material.

Finally, on Sunday, from 9.30 to 12, at the Malcom lake in Longarone, there will be a fishing test for children and young people with disabilities: it will be possible to have them catch 3 fish and then take the catch home for a healthy, zero-mile lunch.
