Eve hours for the Duerocche, the classic race in the natural environment that the day after tomorrow, Thursday, April 25, will blow out 53 candles, confirming itself among the longest-running running events in Italy.

On the hills between Cornuda and Asolo, in the province of Treviso, there will be no less than six trials scheduled. Trail enthusiasts will be able to choose from three distances: the 51 km with 2660 meters of positive elevation gain (start at 7 a.m.), the 35 km with 1800 meters of positive elevation gain (8:30 a.m.) and the 22 km with 960 meters of positive elevation gain (9 a.m.). Also planned are the two classic cross-country routes of 6 and 12 km (start at 9:30 a.m.), open to all, and the 15-km trial, with a positive elevation gain of 720 meters (7:30 a.m.), which will take place along the route of the Duerocche Storica, from Asolo to Cornuda.

Chapter top runners. In the 51-kilometer queen trial, the experienced Ivan Geronazzo, three-time winner of the Duerocche in the long race (the last one last year), will be at the start. Main opponents, Mattia Agugiaro, another Duerocche podium subscriber (bronze in 2023), and Simone Vigolo. While on the women’s side, the odds are to be divided between Alessandra Olivi and Ornella Bona. In the 35-km race, a battle is announced between Enrico Gheno, second last year, Michele Meridio and Mauro Rasom. Returning to the start of the Duerocche on the 22-kilometer course are son of art Roberto Fregona and Andrea Mason, second and third respectively in 2023. Also of note is the presence of Alessio Morellato, European Ironman triathlon champion in 2021 among the Age Group. Giulia Pol and Mirela Djurdjevic, on the other hand, are expected to fight for victory among women. Former mountain running world champion Lucio Fregona, a legend of the Duerocche, will finally participate in the 12-kilometer race, which, in the women’s side, will see Silvia Sangalli, last year’s queen in the 22-kilometer race, as the favorite.

On Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25, until just before the start, registration will continue at the race office, at the Palapace of Cornuda, in the starting area, but only for the two non-competitive trials (6 and 12 km): the number of registered participants, currently about 3,500, will thus undergo a marked increase thanks to the passion of those who will participate in the Duerocche without a competitive spirit, but above all to enjoy breathtaking views and evocative historical glimpses. For the 51-kilometer trial there is also a passage on top of the monumental Rocca di Asolo, a particularly exciting and spectacular moment. For safety reasons, above the Rocca, walking will be mandatory, under penalty of disqualification. Athletes will thus have a few extra moments to enjoy the view from the quintessential symbol of the city of Asolo. More information is available at www.duerocche.com.
