The 28th edition of the Corsa Internazionale Oderzo Città Archeologica will take place on May 1st 2025 in Oderzo (Treviso), in the suggestive Piazza Grande, and will be combined with the Trofeo Opitergium International Road Race. The event, which combines sport and culture, will see the participation of high-level international athletes and young European talents, with races for the absolute and under-20 categories.
The official presentation was held on April 22nd, with the participation of the vice-president of FIDAL, Manuela Levorato, and other local personalities. The mayor of Oderzo, Maria Scardellato, underlined how the event represents a perfect combination of sport and culture, bringing prestige to the city. Levorato recalled the presence of international-level athletes such as Nadia Battocletti, who competed in the past in Oderzo, and urged young people to draw inspiration from her career.
For the men’s 10 km race, the spotlight will be on athletes such as Pasquale Selvarolo and Eyob Faniel, who are among the protagonists of the previous editions, and on other Italian athletes such as Ahmed Ouhda and Nicolò Bedini. The women’s 5 km race will see the return of Klara Lukan and the participation of Valentina Gemetto, Micol Majori and other international athletes, including Britain’s Verity Clare Ockenden.
In the afternoon, before the overall races, the Opitergium International Road Race Under 20 Trophy will be held, with nine European youth teams, including Italy, France, England, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Sweden and Ukraine. The youth races will also offer an important opportunity for the new promises of athletics to compete.
In addition, the Youth Grand Prix for the under 18 categories will start the day, followed by a Footbike exhibition.
This event not only celebrates athletics, but also the cultural tradition of the city of Oderzo, which has hosted world-famous athletes for years. Past participants include champions such as Francesco Panetta, Genny Di Napoli, and Giacomo Leone, with a special focus on Eastern European athletes in recent years.
The event also stands out for the integration of sports competitions and moments of cultural exchange, especially with the addition of the Opitergium Trophy, which promotes growth and comparison between young European athletes.
