During Caccia Pesca Natura 2026, Longarone Fiere Dolomiti hosted a rich program of meetings curated by the UNA Foundation – Man, Nature, Environment, dedicated to enhancing the role of hunters in sustainable land management, protecting biodiversity, and the cultural evolution of the hunting world.
Over the course of the two days, the talks explored key topics such as the wild meat supply chain, its nutritional and sensory properties, and the contribution of hunting to the development of responsible and informed practices. Ample space was also devoted to analyzing the social dynamics of hunting, with a particular focus on the evolution of women in the sector and on studies related to hunting in the province of Belluno, supported by firsthand accounts from the local area.
Sunday was dedicated to a concrete commitment to environmental protection, with the presentation of Operation Paladins of the Territory and the new role of Ambassadors of the UNA Foundation, examples of a national network active in the care of green spaces, the protection of biodiversity, and the support of local communities. Through the sharing of firsthand experiences, the value of the hunter as a guardian of the territory and a key player in shared projects emerged.
The program concluded with a moment of dialogue and cultural dissemination dedicated to ethical and sustainable hunting, through a discussion with Andrea Cavaglià and the presentation of projects promoting the image of the hunting world, such as the “Scatti Selvatici” photography contest and the “Cacciatori di Montagna” initiative.
The collaboration between Caccia Pesca Natura and the UNA Foundation confirmed their shared desire to promote an open, modern, and responsible discussion on environmental issues, especially with a young audience. In this context, educational activities and workshops were organized on Fridays for schoolchildren, encouraging active participation and the development of interpersonal and creative skills. This confirmed UNA’s activities and strengthened the event’s role as a space for reflection, culture, and dialogue in the heart of the Dolomites.
Wild Meats
Wild meats were among the most significant themes of the Foundation’s participation in Caccia Pesca Natura 2026, with a rich program of meetings, tastings, and educational events dedicated to promoting a sustainable, controlled supply chain deeply rooted in the local area.
Through its collaboration with “Gusto Selvatico Aps,” the UNA Foundation promoted the nutritional, environmental, and gastronomic qualities of game meat, emphasizing its role in a healthy, balanced diet that respects biodiversity. The journey began right from the opening of the event, with discussions on the development of the game meat supply chain in the province of Belluno. Speakers included Olympic champions Lisa Vitozzi and Elia Barp, as well as top-level experts Giovanni Feltrin and Oscar Angeloni, who highlighted the compatibility of these meats with lifestyles focused on maximum physical and mental well-being.
Alongside the cultural learning, the audience enjoyed numerous tasting experiences, curated by Chef Team Cortina, which offered gastronomic interpretations of wild meats that blend tradition and contemporary cuisine. These convivial moments strengthened the bond between the region, hunting culture, and high-quality cuisine.
The second day continued the exploration of wild meats from an educational perspective, with talks dedicated to the role of hunters in the supply chain, nutritional properties, and sensory analysis. These were accompanied by guided tastings and cooking demonstrations by Chef Stefano Marinucci, Gold Medalist at the “World Culinary Cup” – Promoter of Italian Cuisine. Local fish resources were also given considerable attention, with young students from ENAIP Veneto in Longarone participating in an educational project that combined fishing, training, sustainability, and the promotion of local excellence.
While during the inauguration ceremony of the fair, moderated by Andrea Benatti, the sports champions Lorenzo Cagnati (trail running and mountain running champion, expert in wildlife sciences), Enrico Zaina (former cycling champion and now professional hunter), Marzio Bruseghin (cycling champion) spoke as testimonials of Caccia Pesca Natura 2026, who attested their strong propensity towards wild meats, not only as the fruit of their hunting passion but also as a fundamental part of a healthy, integrated diet.
