Uncontainable enthusiasm for the eighth passage of the Giro d’Italia on the iconic climb of San Pietro di Feletto. The organizers: “Twenty thousand, never seen so many people”. Donation for the association founded by Sammy Basso. Zaia awards the Latteria Soligo for its 142 years and makes an appointment for 2026: “There is no Giro without Veneto”
San Pietro di Feletto (TV), May 25, 2025 – Passion rises on a bike, pedals through the hills, insinuates itself into the bright green of the vineyards and colors it with an emotion that lasts over time. One last bend, a sigh, and then the road becomes a vertical spectacle. A brushstroke of pink on a sunny Sunday, after last year’s rain.
Here is the Wall of Ca’ del Poggio. Here is the tear that unites rather than divides. Here is the symbol of a shared passion. Here is the enthusiasm of thousands of fans that the Giro d’Italia has attracted once again, the eighth since 2009, at the top of the iconic climb of the Prosecco hills. “At least twenty thousand, never seen so many people”, smile the organizers.
The fifteenth stage of the 108th Giro d’Italia, the 219 kilometers from Fiume Veneto to Asiago, arrives on the Muro shortly before 12:30, slightly ahead of schedule. We are at kilometer 44.7 of the second longest fraction of this edition of the Giro, the one that precedes the arrival of the mountain stages. After the skirmishes at the beginning of the day, the group climbs the Muro in a compact formation, with the pink jersey Del Toro well covered.
The crowd is impressive, a record even for a climb that has long carved out a space in the hearts of many fans. The riders push on the pedals, raise their eyes towards the strip of asphalt that rises and seems to almost overwhelm them: the magic of the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio envelops them, flows under the bikes before projecting them towards the Grappa and the finish line in Asiago. The thermometer of the fans, under the hot sun of an early summer, rises to dangerous levels: the Giro fever truly conquers everyone.

The Muro (1.1 km with an average gradient of 12.3% and peaks of 19%), between curves and counter-curves, rises to an altitude of 242: we are on a hill, but the setting that welcomes the riders seems that of a Dolomite stage. The fans, many camped out on the Muro since the day before, set up gazebos, prepare tables, light fires. The atmosphere is that of a great popular festival. There is not a tree, wall or vineyard that has not hung a banner, a photo, an incitement. The road is a kaleidoscope of colors, designs, slogans. Poggy, the pink lion, mascot of Ca’ del Poggio, turns one and is among the most photographed even when he hugs Corty, the red squirrel symbol of the Cortina Foundation. A bond, that between the Prosecco hills and the Dolomites, in the name of UNESCO and the uniqueness of the Veneto.
The volume of the cheering reaches very high peaks for the home star, Andrea Vendrame. The passage of the Treviso native unleashes the fan club perched on the lawn with banners and flags. Shouts and applause, photos and trumpets, bikes and pink houses, tricolor flags and non-stop toasts. On the last curve before the top, as usual, there is also the lively station of the Fortissimi team. Pink t-shirt as usual. They will remain among the vineyards for the whole day: pure passion.
For the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio, this is the fourth passage of the Giro d’Italia since – in 2019 – the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene received UNESCO recognition. The event thus becomes the best synthesis of a territory that, on the pinkest day of the year, expresses the pride of being there, of showing off its beauty.
The Grande Festa Rosa, at the top of the Muro, is also a catwalk for excellent guests: Luca Zaia spends a good part of the morning at Ca’ del Poggio, between photos and handshakes. “A unique spectacle. It’s easy to say that the Muro is always the Muro, but nothing can be taken for granted: when the Stocco family started, there was nothing here”, commented the Governor, flanked, among others, by the mayor of Treviso, Mario Conte, and the president of the Province of Belluno, Roberto Padrin. Then Zaia makes an appointment for next year, because “there is no Giro without Veneto and there is no Veneto without Giro”. Francesco Moser was also applauded, recognized by the large group of Belgian fans who came to the Wall to support Wout Van Aert.
After the passage of the runners, Zaia, together with the president of the association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, Marina Montedoro, awarded Latteria Soligo with a plaque for “the 142 years of activities to protect producers and consumers”. While the generosity of the sponsors of Ca’ del Poggio allowed a donation of 5 thousand euros to be made to the association A.I.Pro.Sa.B, founded by Sammy Basso to support the fight against progeria, a rare disease.
