Christmas by the Sea: the Krampus arrive in Caorle’s Village of a Hundred Huts

Caorle once again confirms itself as one of the most popular Christmas destinations in Northern Italy thanks to Caorle Christmas Time, an event that transforms the historic town centre into a large seaside Christmas village. The market, one of the biggest in Italy, stretches for almost two kilometres and features 85 wooden huts, a national record, set within the evocative atmosphere of the old fishermen’s town.

The star of this year’s edition is the new “Chinonsò” village, inspired by the world of the Grinch, which brings the narrow streets to life with installations, performances and activities designed especially for families. Concerts, roaming entertainment, children’s readings, theatre and music shows create a packed daily programme that has already attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors over the first weekends.

Alongside the new attractions, Caorle’s great Christmas classics return: daily videomapping on the church, a large ice-skating rink, the panoramic Ferris wheel, the traditional carousel and the unique charm of the sea in winter. Among the most eagerly awaited moments are the arrival of the Krampus in the historic centre on 28 December and the Epiphany fireworks on 6 January, which will officially bring the festive season to a close.

Given the exceptional turnout, organisers have decided to extend the opening of the Christmas markets, adding extra days and strengthening the programme through to Epiphany, with the regular presence of Santa Claus, the Grinch and all the main attractions.

Promoted by Confcommercio and the Municipality of Caorle, Caorle Christmas Time once again proves to be a key event for off-season tourism, delivering tangible benefits to the local economy and helping establish Caorle as an attractive destination all year round.
