Cibiana di Cadore, the town that tells its story with an open-air museum

Between Cadore and Val Zoldana, at 985 meters above sea level, Cibiana di Cadore is hidden in the woods, a unique town of its kind, which wanted to tell its story through 50 colorful murals, painted on the external walls of the houses.

The artists, coming both from all over Italy and from all over the world (including Japanese, Germans and citizens of the former USSR), have created an open-air museum, freely visitable, which tells the story through murals since the 1980s. the story of a town of 450 souls like Cibiana: a story made of sacrifices, hard work, emigration, but also traditions of mountain culture that still partly live in Cibiana today, a place never truly touched by mass tourism and therefore still very authentic .

In many parts of the town you can find maps with the route illustrated with all the murals, which constitutes a real walk in which you can admire, in addition to the wonderful landscape of the Dolomites, also the ancient houses, some of which date back to the 16th century and which still today host houses for private use but also pubs and clubs, which still retain a very ancient and evocative air.
