The delegations of the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio, the Muro di Grammont, and the Mûr-de-Bretagne met for the seventh stage of the Grande Boucle. Mayor Botteon: “Great enthusiasm, ready for new projects.” The dream of a Giro d’Italia stage finish among the Prosecco hills
San Pietro di Feletto (TV), July 12, 2025 – Together, we can go further and be increasingly effective in promoting our respective territories. Because unity, even in the case of major sporting events, truly is strength. And a Wall, rather than dividing, can become a springboard for new ideas and innovative projects.
The seventh stage of the Tour de France, which yesterday – Friday, July 11 – featured a spectacular double passage over the Mûr-de-Bretagne, provided the occasion for a meeting between the mayors of the territories encompassing the three Walls that have shaped cycling: Ca’ del Poggio, which hosted the Giro d’Italia for the eighth time on May 25th and where the Giro d’Italia Women passed last Wednesday; Grammont, the iconic climb of the Tour of Flanders that has become a training ground for countless amateur cyclists; and the Mûr-de-Bretagne itself, where the crowds yesterday applauded the 101st career victory of the formidable Slovenian Pogacar.
The Treviso delegation was led by the mayor of San Pietro di Feletto, Cristiano Botteon, and Celeste Granziera, who is also the coordinator of the working group made up of representatives of the municipalities where the three Walls are located: San Pietro di Feletto for Ca’ del Poggio, Geraardsbergen for Grammont, and Guerlédan for the Mûr-de-Bretagne.
“We received an exceptional welcome in France, which once again demonstrates the desire to continue this cooperation project between the Walls,” commented Mayor Botteon. “This is an initiative I truly believe in, and it will go beyond sport to embrace three very different territories, yet united by the same vocation for cycling. It was a very fruitful trip. The enthusiasm I’ve seen these days, and which we’ve shared with the other delegations, is certainly a good omen: we are ready for new projects.”
Between strengthening relationships and planning new initiatives, there was also talk of a great dream, all Treviso-based, for the 2026 cycling season: a Giro d’Italia stage finish in the heart of the Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, with the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio once again taking center stage. Meanwhile, the delegations of the three Muri have agreed to meet again on August 27th, this time in Belgium, during the “Muurclassic Geraardsbergen,” the Granfondo of the Muro di Grammont.
