Hunting and Fishing: The Veneto Region will invest in scientific research

Regional Councilor Bond, Senator De Carlo, and Provincial President Staunovo Polacco were present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Caccia Pesca Natura.

The Veneto Region is undertaking a series of important initiatives for hunting. “We recently presented the new hunting calendar to the associations, and we will also present it to the Regional Council. Alongside this, we are also pursuing a series of initiatives to raise the scientific level of this sector. There is considerable excitement regarding fishing among the associations, too, and we should meet with them to define the strategy for the coming years.” This was stated by Dario Bond, Regional Councilor for Hunting and Fishing, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 24th Caccia Pesca Natura, held this morning in Longarone.

Representing Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, Chiara Bortolas of the Board of Directors spoke: “This is a fair that aims to address the world of hunting and fishing, but also nature, and above all, all the activities that can be enjoyed outdoors. It’s a fair that has been growing for years and attracts many families, as well as young people and women, who are entering the world of hunting and fishing, particularly in the province of Belluno. It’s a fair that focuses on the activities that take place within the province, but not only that, because we also look outward and explore growth opportunities for the hunting and fishing sectors, which are two driving forces in our region.” Senator Luca De Carlo, President of the Senate’s 9th Commission, also spoke: “Hunting and Fishing in Nature has always been a point of reference for those who love hunting, but not only that, for those who love the environment, for those who love this extraordinary territory. I always say this because I saw it as mayor: 15 years of commitment by hunters and fishermen to the region have allowed our territories to be enjoyed also for tourism. I don’t know more serious and more concrete environmentalists than hunters and fishermen.”
At his first ribbon-cutting ceremony at the fair, the new President of the Province, Marco Staunovo Polacco, said: “I believe it is a source of pride for the Province of Belluno to have this great event here. I believe it is the only fair on this theme currently in Veneto and the Alpine region, certainly the most important. Clearly, the timing for the fair is not easy, but all the local authorities are working to ensure that the fair has a bright future and, above all, continuity, and so I believe this is the goal for the coming weeks.”

For the mayor of Longarone, Roberto Padrin, this is a special edition of Hunting, Fishing and Nature: “Because it’s now the only fair left in the Triveneto region. It’s therefore a source of great pride for us, and the participation is truly extraordinary. Above all, these hunting and fishing enthusiasts gather here to see the latest innovations in the sector, but above all to share a passion. A passion that is geared towards the enhancement and protection of our region. So we can only be grateful to these people. They share with us a love for a wonderful region like the province of Belluno, but above all, for the entire Veneto region and our entire country.”
Hunting, Fishing and Nature continues tomorrow, Sunday, April 19, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, offering a rich program of initiatives dedicated to sports, education, outreach, and traditions related to the world of hunting, fishing, and the environment. Throughout the day, there will be target shooting with air rifles, handguns, shotguns, and PCCs, organized by the Tiro a Segno Nazionale in Ponte nelle Alpi, as well as long-range shooting sessions at the Monte Serva Nord Desedan shooting range in collaboration with leading companies in the sector.

There will also be activities for families and young people, with the “Fishing with Mom and Dad” initiative at Lake Malcolm, dedicated to children and people with disabilities. The morning will be enriched by institutional meetings, awards ceremonies, and scholarship awards, including a report on the hunting season, the awarding of the best trophies, and the “Adopt a Watercourse – Adopt a Fish” drawing competition.
The UNA Foundation will be the protagonist with themed meetings, discussions on the role of the hunter in the supply chain, and wild meat tastings, along with a journey through the Alpine regions exploring game cured meats. Throughout the fair, nationally renowned events will continue, such as the 22nd National Taxidermy Competition, the 29th Hunter’s Festival, and the National Gathering of Hunting, Fish, and Wildlife Collectors.

Environmental awareness with the Veneto Agricoltura stand, FIPSAS activities for youth and adults, dog demonstrations of den work, art exhibitions, and the promotion of the world of truffles with dog trials and practical demonstrations. The program is rounded out by displays of artisan knives and environmentally themed drawings, offering visitors a complete experience combining tradition, culture, and innovation.
