June 24, 2025. The meeting of the Technical Committee of the International Artisan Gelato Exhibition of Longarone took place a few days ago and expressed a significant and ambitious program of activities, making known the salient aspects of the event.
The ones who intervened, bringing to the table the needs of the entire supply chain, were the trade associations such as Uniteis for Germany and Confartigianato and CNA for Italy, the European ice cream makers with Artglace, the national committee of GA and the GAT. For the products and equipment sector, the presidents of UIF and Acomag intervened. Positive expressions were also received from Italian ice cream makers operating in Holland and Austria. As always, the specialized press of the sector was present. At the end of the meeting, a shared program emerged that was certainly of interest, both for ice cream makers and for their supplier companies.
On the merits, there is the renewed collaboration with the national CNR, which at MIG will present the results of research on neurogastronomy aimed at studying sensory stimuli linked to taste, sight and smell. While on the subject of new trends, there will be the presence of the VeganOK association, which already includes several certifications among the products of the main companies in the ice cream sector.
There will also be space for an in-depth study on the topic of the profession of ice cream maker and the related school-professional education. A fundamental issue that captures the interest of all representatives of the supply chain. This will be accompanied by engaging demonstrations, in particular dedicated to artisanal ice cream in the catering sector.
To underline the traditional connection with the German market, the activity of UNITEIS, the Union of Italian ice cream makers in Germany, will be intense, organizing refresher meetings for its members in addition to the annual assembly and the presentation of the Taste of the Year in Germany 2026.
MIG 2025 will also represent an important stage for the European project “GELATOn the ROAD” which will see the representatives of the partners meet, accompanied by the European ice cream makers who will come to Longarone to compete in the “Sustainable Scoops” competition. In fact, the Italian national final and the European final will be held with the 12 winning ice cream makers from: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain.
They will also have the opportunity to compete in the 55th edition of the prestigious “Coppa d’Oro” with a Mango sorbet. But not only that, there will be the final phase of the “Un Gelato per Cortina” Competition and the Veneto selection of the national competition for students of hotel schools “Il migliore Allievo” organized by the Associazione Cuochi Bellunese on the theme “Il gelato salato”. And another important novelty, the Award organized by the national CNR dedicated to “Visioni d’Avanguardia nel Mondo del Gelato”, an initiative designed to enhance the most brilliant and revolutionary ideas in the ice cream sector. While the final awards of the literary competition dedicated to young people “Wigwam Italian Gelato Contest” supported by Vecogel are also confirmed for 2025.
Finally, the Uniteis Assemblies for Germany, Agia for Austria and Artglace with the presentation of the flavor for the European Artisan Gelato Day – March 24, 2026 have already been confirmed.
