SelvArt Park: an open-air museum in the woods of Mezzaselva di Roana

In Mezzaselva di Roana, in the heart of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni (Vicenza), lies a place where art and nature coexist in perfect balance: SelvArt Park. This unique space, located in the Kantregar forest, hosts around thirty installations by Italian and international artists, who use natural materials recovered directly from the surrounding environment to create works that tell the story of the region.

The trail, suitable for everyone, is just over three kilometers long and takes about two hours to walk. It is open year-round with free admission. For those wishing to delve deeper into the meaning of the works and the philosophy of the park, guided tours are available, led by SelvArt staff.

In 2018, the “Vaia” storm hit the Veneto forests hard, uprooting millions of trees and severely damaging SelvArt Park and its installations. However, thanks to the efforts of numerous volunteers, a period of rebirth has begun. Among the most representative symbols of this new beginning are Marco Martalar’s winged lion—an imposing three-meter-tall sculpture composed of over 1,500 pieces of wood—and the evocative golden trees created by Paolo Ceola.

SelvArt is an ideal destination for families, schools, and art and nature enthusiasts. During the visit, you may encounter fantastical characters such as the old blue bear, the giant dandelions, the little red tiger, and the minotaur.

Just put on a pair of hiking boots and set off to explore this evocative artistic park, where creativity intertwines with the landscape and transforms the scars left by a natural disaster into inspiring works of art.
