The Ca’ del Poggio Run flies past 1,500 registered participants

Record-breaking debut for the double running event (19 and 8 km) that on Sunday 26 November will cross the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, also running along the famous San Pietro di Feletto Wall. Starting at 9 a.m. in Piazza Cima in Conegliano, the finish line will be in the evocative setting of the former Convent of San Francesco. Registration also open at the weekend

Conegliano (Treviso), 23 November 2023 – The countdown is almost over. There is very little time left for the debut of the Ca’ del Poggio Run, the eagerly awaited running event – between sport, territory and solidarity – that on Sunday 26 November will run through the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, offering two routes through the vineyards: one of 19 and the other of 8 kilometres.

The number of those registered, in the last few hours, has exceeded 1,500, but the figure, in line with the expectations of the organisers, is not definitive: as of today – Thursday 23 November – registrations are closed in all the physical points affiliated and online. Registration will, however, also be possible on Saturday 25 November in Piazza Cima in Conegliano from 14:00 to 18:00 and, for the 8 km race only, also on Sunday 26 November, from 7:00 to 8:45, again in Piazza Cima (until all bibs are sold out).

The march towards the inaugural edition of the Ca’ del Poggio Run also brought a pleasant novelty: the finish line, for both races, was moved from Piazza Cima, where the start (scheduled for 9 a.m.) will continue to be located, to the former Convent of San Francesco. A particularly evocative location, in the historical heart of Conegliano.

“It is a decision we took in the last few days, in agreement with the municipal administration,” explains Luca Vazzoler, spokesman for an organising committee that includes no less than seven running clubs (Fuel to Run, E20Run, Cimavilla Running Team, G.P. La Piave, Running Team Conegliano, Scuola di Maratona Vittorio Veneto and Amici di Lutrano). The event village will also be located at the former Convent of San Francesco, and the final prize-giving ceremony will take place. It is a particularly fascinating context, which will enhance the debut of the Ca’ del Poggio Run to the maximum”.

“It is a pleasure to support an event that unites friendship, sport, territory, culture and charity,” commented the mayor of Conegliano, Fabio Chies, “which is why we have made the splendid location of the former Convent of San Francesco available to the Ca’ del Poggio Run, for an even more scenic finish.

The two routes – open to everyone: runners, walkers, fit walkers and Nordic walking enthusiasts – will take place between the municipalities of Conegliano, Vittorio Veneto and San Pietro di Feletto, passing through public roads and private properties (as many as 18), made available by the owners. For the longest trial there will also be a passage on the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio, an iconic climb (1 km with an average gradient of 12.7% and peaks of 19%) through the vineyards of San Pietro di Feletto, which has now become a legend for cycling enthusiasts, and which for the first time will be the setting for a running race. Here, where the Giro d’Italia has passed through six times (the next one will be on 25 May 2024 on the occasion of the penultimate stage, the Alpago-Bassano del Grappa), the athletes will find a timed uphill section of around one kilometre in length. A challenge within a challenge, which will crown the best ‘climbers’ of the day.

The Ca’ del Poggio Run was created with the aim of promoting the territory through the values of sport, friendship between sports clubs (for the first time, seven different teams have joined forces to take on the organisational commitment), and collaboration with local organisations and companies.
Local companies in the food and wine sector are also involved, as well as the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG wineries, which will enrich the refreshments with typical and quality products. For the occasion, participants will also be able to taste the cuisine of Ca’ del Poggio both in the refreshment area on the Wall, which will be absolutely special, and in the final refreshment area.Participants will receive a rich race package that, in the case of the 19 km race, will also include a fine bottle of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
