Theresianer: 25 years of Italian brewing excellence, born from the vision of Martino Zanetti

Theresianer, whose Trieste lantern symbolizes a “safe harbor” for lovers of good beer, today represents a point of reference in the international panorama of high-quality beer. This year it proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary, a significant milestone that has its roots in the far-sighted intuition of its founder, Martino Zanetti. It was May 2000 when, in Nervesa della Battaglia, in the province of Treviso, this ambitious project came to life, driven by the desire to renew the rich Central European brewing tradition present in Trieste and to preserve the vitality of a centuries-old culture.

Thanks to his entrepreneurial vision, Martino Zanetti was able to entrust the development of Theresianer beers to the skill of the most expert master brewers, with the firm belief that quality comes from the selection of excellent raw materials and continues in strict compliance with the best brewing tradition. In Theresianer the watchword is “slow maturation” because the times of natural brewing are respected. Furthermore, unique ingredients are used for Theresianer beers: pure water, barley malt and precious hops, selected yeasts. This selection approach combined with contemporary production and organizational processes and targeted distribution have allowed Theresianer to conquer the palates of enthusiasts, a success constantly supported by prestigious international awards. In these 25 years, Theresianer has established itself as an excellence in the Italian beer scene, with a path studded with prestigious awards. The beers, with their distinctive personalities, have obtained highly significant awards in the most important international and national competitions, including the title of “Italian Brewery of the Year” and the Gold Medals for Premium Lager and Vienna at the recent New York International Beer Competition 2025, the Gold Medal for Vienna at the Brussels Beer Challenge 2024, demonstrating its stylistic adherence and unmistakable taste. Furthermore, it has received the Excellence Award at the Cerevisia Award 2024 for Bock and the Silver Medal for Theresianer Premium Pils at the European Beer Star.

This continually growing list of awards bears witness to the care and passion that the Theresianer team dedicates to the creation of unique and distinctive beers. Among the top references that have contributed to its success are Vienna, an elegant interpretation of the style to which it refers, and Premium Pils, a perfect expression of its category, appreciated for its balance and freshness.
Theresianer’s commitment to high quality is also reflected in the Slow Brewing Certification, a prestigious recognition that attests to the superior taste of the beer and the rigorous ethics of its production, with periodic audits that evaluate the product and the process. A certification that is constantly renewed, to guarantee responsible production that respects the natural maturation times and uses only the best raw materials.

Over the years, Theresianer has been able to innovate, offering limited edition beers that interpret the tradition of seasonal beers, and has broadened its horizons with collaborations linked to prominent and prestigious figures in Italian catering, creating unique synergies between haute cuisine and quality beer.

A further example of this vision is represented by Theresianer Gin, a distillate that combines the consolidated brewing tradition with gin, with hops as a distinctive ingredient.
Today, Theresianer is a point of reference in the global panorama of quality beer. A marriage of tradition and innovation, a unique taste recognized and appreciated by the most demanding palates, born from the foresight of Martino Zanetti, whose work has contributed significantly to the vitality of the entire Italian beer sector.
