Cortina- Dobbiaco. The race 2021
Running in the Dolomites
The route retraces the route of the former railway that connected the two towns, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Dobbiaco, crossing breathtaking landscapes, immersed in unspoiled nature.
It starts from Cortina d’Ampezzo in Corso Italia and, after 30 km, you reach Dobbiaco.
The first part is slightly uphill, with passages in tunnels and bridges that seem suspended in the void.
All this always with the Dolomites alongside, up to the brow of the Cima Banche Pass (1530 m, maximum height of the route), which divides not only the two localities, but also two provinces and two different regions:
respectively, Belluno in Veneto, and Bolzano in South Tyrol.
Continuing the route you descend to Lake Landro, and shortly afterwards on the right stands the symbol of these places: the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Imposing and majestic, they are known all over the world for their beauty and charm.
After a few kilometers, you reach the alpine lake of Dobbiaco, another gem of the route.
Leaving the wood, you can see the first houses of Dobbiaco, leave the dirt road, we are at the last kilometer.
The arrival, located in the beautiful park of the Grand Hotel is close, here we are, the entrance with the welcome of the large audience, to mark the end of a beautiful and exciting race “The race in the Dolomites”.
