Zoldo Valley. Transpelmo Skyrun – 3/09

Transpelmo is a mountain running race around the striking mass of Mount Pelmo in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. The course is a 19.5-kilometer loop (D 1450 m) with the start set in Pecol, at the foot of the Civetta chain, on Sunday, September 3.

The runners will have to face a first uphill part in the forest, and then continue at high altitude on a wide path, surrounded by vast pastures and expanses of mountain pines, to the Venezia refuge where the first refreshment point will be equipped. From this point the challenging ascent will begin, passing through a first small fork leading to a steep scree and finally to the grandiose Forcella Val d’Arcia, the highest and most majestic point of the route (2607 meters). The descent will be along the long, steady scree until it joins the trail leading to Staulanza Pass where the third refreshment point will be set up. After a short climb, the final stage of the descent will begin, passing through Pian dei Buoi and leading back to Palafavera where the finish and final refreshment is located.

An exciting adventure, discovering the different faces of the most famous monolith in the Dolomites, called by many the “Throne of God” for the grandeur of its mass.
