Great public participation in the two days proposed by the Alpago 2 Wheels & Solidarity Committee together with the Municipality of Alpago, Eventi Volanti, with the support of the Province of Belluno and the Treviso – Belluno Chamber of Commerce. Over 400 kites made by children in the proposed workshops. The next event, again in Alpago, is the Air Show on July 28th.
The first one was good, very good indeed. The Kite Festival, which took place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July on the Farra beach of Lago di Santa Croce, was a success. It was a very high-intensity two-day event proposed by the Alpago 2 Wheels & Solidarity Committee together with the Municipality of Alpago, Eventi Volanti and Aics, with the support of the Province of Belluno and with the support and contribution of the Treviso – Belluno Chamber of Commerce .
32 kite flyers from different parts of Italy, thousands of people gathered, dozens of static kites and huge inflatable kites coloring the Alpago sky. In addition to acrobatic kite performances and, for the little ones, the opportunity to participate free of charge in creative workshops to build their own kites. Over 400 kites were made during the two days by children and teenagers.

«We had a huge audience, we are more than satisfied» underlines Ennio Soccal, president of the Alpago 2 Wheels & Solidarity Committee. «It was the first time we proposed an event of this kind and we can say that it was a success. I thank all those who collaborated on the initiative: from the Alpago administration to Eventi Volanti, from the sponsors to the volunteers.”
«A huge audience for this kite flying on Lake Santa Croce» says Filippo Gallina, of Eventi Volanti. «I like to highlight the over four hundred kites that the little ones were able to build with their own hands, a free activity that was not only fun but also educational, teaching respect for the environment: the kites, in fact, were made using recycled material. In the two afternoons the wind from the lake was our friend and the spectacle was impressive. The hope is to be able to propose it again in the years to come.”
«The Kite Festival kicked off our summer, a summer of great liveliness» commented Alberto Peterle, mayor of Alpago. «Our territory lends itself very well to events like this and we will work to propose this show again. Thanks to those who worked to make all this possible.”
After the Kite Festival, the Alpago 2 Wheels & Solidarity Committee is now looking forward to the second event of summer 2024, the Alpago Air Show. The air festival, which will remember Dario De Felip, the pilot from Pieve d’Alpago who died in the crash of the 118 “Falco” helicopter rescue in August 2009 in Cortina d’Ampezzo, is scheduled for Sunday 28 July, again at Farra beach on Lake Santa Croce. As with the Kite Festival, entry will also be free in this case. The event will be officially presented on Thursday 18 July at 12.15 at the Belluno headquarters of the Treviso – Belluno Chamber of Commerce.
Then it will be the turn of the Giro del Lago di Santa Croce, the charity event (the proceeds will go to the Via di Natale di Aviano and Cucchini di Belluno associations) which can be experienced by running, cycling or skating. In this case the appointment is for Sunday 18 August.
