Atletica Trevigiana celebrates another record-breaking season

At the Auditorium of the Province of Treviso, the traditional end-of-year party for a movement that, with approximately 5,700 athletes and 48 clubs, confirms its leadership in the region. Weightlifter Anita Nalesso (Trevisatletica) crowned Athlete of the Year with coach Simone Broccolo. Among the guests of honor, federal vice president Manuela Levorato

Treviso, November 17, 2024 – “A beautiful, beautiful season: 8 and a half”. Atletica Trevigiana, at the end of a 2024 to remember, is the sweet smile of weightlifter Anita Nalesso, crowned Athlete of the Year in a provincial party that – Sunday, November 17 – filled the Auditorium of Sant’Artemio to celebrate the protagonists of the season.

Nalesso, 17, from Fiera, an emerging star of Trevisatletica, confirmed her pure talent in the shot put, a specialty in which she won both Italian youth titles (indoor and outdoor), bringing the total number of tricolor jerseys won during her youth career to five, and came sixth at the European Under 18 Championships in Banska Bystrica: “It’s a shame I missed the 16 meters (Anita ended the season with a personal best of 15.97, ed.), a measure that perhaps would have given me further chances at the European Championships, but with my coach Simone Broccolo (also awarded as coach of the year, ed.) we achieved all the goals we had set ourselves at the start of the season: when it mattered, the results came. And that’s the most important thing. Now another season full of events awaits me: I’ll become a junior, the weight will increase from 3 to 4 kg, new challenges will arrive. I can’t wait to get started. The first goal? The indoor season”.

Anita Nalesso has taken up the ideal baton from the Conegliano middle-distance runner Lorenza De Noni, Treviso Athlete of 2023, this year awarded with a special recognition for the fifth place in the 800 meters at the Under 20 World Championships, together with her colleagues in the specialty Giovanni Lazzaro and Catalin Tecuceanu, from Padua who will play for Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto until 2023.

The provincial party, in a packed Auditorium (over 400 people present), allowed us to remember the many happy moments of another record-breaking season. The numbers of the movement say it – 5,647 athletes, 48 clubs, 165 technicians, 77 race judges -, but the successes on the field explain it even better, as the president of the provincial Fidal, Dino Brunello, recalled, having reached the end of his four-year mandate: “They were four demanding years, in which I gave my all, setting as my main objective the collaboration with the clubs. Treviso athletics is a very rich movement, but it suffers from the lack of facilities. I would like to thank the sponsors Banca Prealpi SanBiagio and Avis Comunale (represented in the room by the area manager Francesco Piccin, accompanied by the director of the Treviso branch, Renato Barbisan, and the president Antonella Torresan, ed.), the competition judges led by Giuseppe Stival, the technical sector with the trustee Sandro Delton, all the collaborators. The provincial assembly will be held on January 18, the time has come to leave room for others”.

Fidal was also represented by the national vice-president Manuela Levorato, also busy as sub-commissioner of the Regional Committee, awaiting the elections on January 11. “For Veneto athletics it is a particular moment – said the former Italian sprinter – but I would like to reassure that everything is proceeding for the best. The calendar is practically done, an indoor season full of events awaits us and in which, in mid-February, the Italian absolute championships of multiple events will return to Padua”.

Also present were the provincial delegate of Coni, Mario Sanson, the former coordinator of the School Office of Physical Education Roberto Chiariotti, the deputy mayor of Treviso Alessandro Manera and, representing the provincial administration, the councilor Raffaele Freda. About 120 athletes were called on stage, many of them young. Special awards for the aforementioned Nalesso and the javelin thrower Joey Gottardello (Team Treviso), who received the “Adriano Didonè” award, and for Eleonora Favaretto (Team Treviso), a specialist in multiple events, who received the “Magalì Vettorazzo” award from the hands of Andrea Pistolesi, a former Florentine hammer thrower, husband of the great Italian athlete of the heroic times, a native of Preganziol, who passed away in 2018.

Also worthy of mention are six blue jerseys (Alberto Basso, Nicolò Bedini, Lorenza De Noni, Anita Nalesso, Francesca Piccolo and Margherita Randazzo) and 15 Italian champions (Lorenzo De Bortoli, Margherita Randazzo, Giovanni Lazzaro, Elia Dall’Antonia, Gabriele Faganello, Riccardo Tomè, Alice Florian, Loris Tonella, Lorenza De Noni, Eleonora Favaretto, Anita Nalesso, Isabella Calzolari, Federico Celebrin, Sofia Polentes, Nicolò Bedini), as well as the ATL-Etica San Vendemiano quartet (Elia Dall’Antonia, Mattia Ortolani, Matteo Montagner and Mattia Basei) winners of the under 18 championship of multiple events.
