Alberto De Nardo wins the Antonio Carpenè Gold Medal 2024

A very high-level curriculum for this year’s winner, whose award ceremony was accompanied by a tribute to Etile Carpenè, who passed away on October 23

The winner of the Antonio Carpenè Gold Medal 2024, awarded this morning in the Aula Magna of the CIRVE at the Conegliano School of Oenology, has a name and a face. The recipient of the prestigious award – reserved for the most deserving student of the Conegliano School of Viticulture and Oenology – was Alberto De Nardo.

The motivation with which the jury chaired by Rosanna Carpenè designated the winner is the following: “He demonstrates a constant commitment to learning. He never limits himself to the notions acquired but, independently, deepens them and shares them with his classmates and teachers, applying the topics covered in the territory. Attention and sensitivity towards the issues of sustainability, not only environmental, but also economic and social. Passion and professionalism accompany him in all the paths he undertakes”.

The event was hosted by the journalist Marina Grasso, who at the opening gave space to the institutional greetings of Mariagrazia Morgan, Headmaster of the G.B. Cerletti Institute, Fabio Chies, Mayor of Conegliano and Olga Rilampa, Councilor Delegate of the province of Treviso, the Honorable Marina Marchetto Aliprandi, followed by greetings sent by Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region and Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture. Both highlighted the importance of training, culture, research and the value that the G.B. Cerletti Wine School of Conegliano has always created in the area.

“I would like to thank the Enological School,” said Rosanna Carpenè, President of Carpenè-Malvolti, “all the institutions present, President Luca Zaia and Minister Francesco Lollobrigida for the precious and encouraging words they spent for this event, the Gold Medal, established in 1902 and dedicated to Antonio Carpenè, who firmly believed in young people so much that he committed himself to creating this School, certain that wine culture would help the economy of the area. We are here today to celebrate educational excellence,” explains Rosanna Carpenè, “but also to pay homage to my father who made this Company great together with his predecessors. The responsibility that awaits me is great, but one of the cornerstones of my project at the helm of the Company will be to continue on the path he traced in the valorization and promotion of young talents, continuing to invest in the training of new generations.”

During the ceremony, a memory of Etile Carpenè was traced, exactly one month after his passing, which occurred last October 23 in Conegliano. Taking the floor during the commemoration “A name, a story: Etile Carpenè the lord of Prosecco”, were respectively Diego Tomasi, Director of the Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G., Floriano Zambon former Mayor of Conegliano for three terms and President Emeritus of the National Association of Cities of Wine and Vasco Boatto, Professor Emeritus of Economics and Agricultural Policy at the University of Padua.

“The added value that the Carpenè family has brought to the Conegliano Valdobbiadene district is inestimable. Promoter of the establishment of the Protection Consortium back in 1962, – says Diego Tomasi, Director of the Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG – its foresight has allowed us to understand the importance of cooperation between producers, laying the foundations for the success and international recognition of our territory. Carpenè Malvolti, an institution in the world of sparkling wines, which with reserved and composed daily activity has renounced easy protagonism to instead become a guide and example for the entire territory. It is an honor for me to be here today, in memory of Etile Carpene, who with perseverance continued to believe in young people, future promoters of a positive change and ambassadors of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco.”
