The Lago Film Fest officially presented Piattaforma Lago, a cultural project that integrates a festival, residency, and production, during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. This model, born from 20 years of experience, is now a key reference for film professionals and enthusiasts at both local and international levels.
Viviana Carlet, the festival’s founder, and Emiliano Bernardi, president of Pro Loco Revine Lago, shared how the Lago Film Fest has evolved into a cultural ecosystem that goes beyond the festival itself, with artistic residencies and other year-round initiatives that have a strong impact on the local community.
However, to ensure its sustainability and future growth, a strategic agreement between the Municipality and the Region is needed. During the institutional greetings, Roberto Bet, Regional Councilor, emphasized that the Lago Film Fest is no longer just an event but a creative community that deserves stable support, including financial backing. Revine Lago’s Mayor, Massimo Magagnin, highlighted the importance of culture as a tool for local development.
Piattaforma Lago includes several projects, such as the Lago Film Fest, which in 2024-2025 will be the European Capital of Independent Cinema, featuring films from 52 countries. Federica Pugliese, co-artistic director of the festival, explained that this edition successfully combined innovative cinema with an accessible experience for all, attracting both local and international audiences.
Milena Lamendola, responsible for audience development, presented inclusive projects such as Signplicity, dedicated to Deaf culture, and traveling events like Cineterme. The Lago Film Residency has hosted many international filmmakers, including Chinese director Viv Li, whose film is in competition at Venice, and Francesco Sossai, selected for Cannes.
Viviana Carlet reiterated the need for stable support to ensure the platform’s future, stressing that the Lago Film Fest in 2026 will undergo significant changes but will continue to exist. To conclude, Emiliano Bernardi reminded everyone that Pro Loco, founded to promote the Prealpine Treviso region, has worked alongside the festival to create cultural opportunities that foster community growth and identity.
