Treviso double in the second edition of the 19 km through the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Loris Minella and Laura Boz were the fastest on the Wall of San Pietro di Feletto. The organizers: “Over two thousand registered: despite the bad weather the day before, we have exceeded last year’s numbers”
Conegliano (Treviso), October 20, 2024 – Running through the vineyards. One eye on the stopwatch, the other on the infinite panoramas of the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Autumn colors and flavors fill the Sunday of the Ca’ del Poggio Run, an eagerly awaited running event that today in Conegliano (Treviso) combined sport, territory and solidarity in the best possible way, offering two routes – one of 19 and the other of 8 km – that attracted over two thousand runners and walkers to the start.
A Sunday to remember for Andrea Mason (Atl. Ponzano) and Giulia Delgado (Atl. San Biagio), the first to cross the finish line of the 19 km in the setting of Piazza Cima, made even more evocative by the participants of the Dama di Conegliano. Andrea, 24, a native of Conegliano, fresh from his engineering degree, moved up two places compared to last year when he was third in the race won by Loris Minella who today had to settle for second place. Mason finished in 1h11’49”, beating the Feltre native of Trevisatletica by 20”. Third, just behind, Roberto Ortolan (Sphinx Athletic Club). A solitary race, instead, for Giulia Delgado, 24-year-old nurse from Olmi di San Biagio di Callalta, former triathlete. For her, on the 19 km weighed down by the mud due to the rain that fell until shortly before the start, a time of 1h27’07” and 26th place overall, clearly ahead of Alessia Dal Vecchio (Team Treviso) and Greta Dal Magro (Gp Livenza Sacile).
Minella and Laura Boz (Fuel to Run), legs and grit stolen for a Sunday from off-road cycling, were the fastest in the timed section of about one kilometer that characterized the passage on the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio, a famous climb among the vineyards of San Pietro di Feletto, now become a legend for two-wheel enthusiasts (just remember the seven passages of the Giro d’Italia, the last in chronological order last May 25) and now also among the highlights of the Ca’ del Poggio Run.
On the men’s podium of the best “climbers” of the day, together with Minella (4’01”), Denis Mariotto (4’13”) and Nicolò Petrin (4’21”), while among the women, behind Boz (5’20”), the places of honor went to Delgado (5’32”) and Dal Vecchio (5’40”). Those who weren’t in such a hurry found a special refreshment point at the top of the Wall, with Prosecco and scampi, which was definitely worth a stop. A show within a show. Also appreciated by Fabio Chies, mayor of Conegliano and expert runner, who also started the 19 km race to enjoy the splendid day among the hills.
Michele Tittonel and Anna Morello were the first to cross the finish line of the Family Cross, the non-competitive 8 km race that also had among its guests Silvia Marangoni, 11-time world champion in roller skating, inline specialty, and Alessandra Patelli, two-time Olympic rower (Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo), as well as Piero Garbellotto, president of Imoco Volley. Special recognition also for the companies and groups with the highest number of members. In order: Fuel to Run, Cimavilla Running Team, Zuppa di Sasso, E20 Run, Scuola di Maratona Vittorio Veneto and Run for Mike.
“We have exceeded two thousand registered participants, doing even better than last year – commented Luca Vazzoler, spokesperson for an organizing committee that included seven running clubs (Fuel to Run, E20Run, Cimavilla Running Team, G.P. La Piave, Running Team Conegliano, Scuola di Maratona Vittorio Veneto and Amici di Lutrano) united this year in the CdPR Asd -. There is so much satisfaction, we did not imagine reaching these numbers. In reality, there could have been even more participants, but many were discouraged by the bad weather of the past few days. I want to thank our sports clubs: the organization of the Ca’ del Poggio Run is a commitment that involves over two hundred volunteers and, in this role, often sees the companies that support us in the front row”.
Big party also at Ca’ del Poggio. “The sun was shining on the Wall again today. The sun brought by thousands of people who wanted to challenge each other in a running event that is becoming the autumn classic in the heart of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, supported by hundreds and hundreds of volunteers who work a whole year to make this day unique,” said Alberto Stocco, of Ca’ del Poggio Ristorante & Resort, who for a few weeks has also been the honorary president of CdPR Asd.
Like last year, the Ca’ del Poggio Run also had charitable purposes: part of the proceeds will go to two local organizations, the Fondazione Figli di Maria Antonietta Bernardi of Conegliano, which deals with the education, assistance and care of minors who are in situations of social hardship, and the Associazione Zuppa di Sasso, based in Nervesa della Battaglia, which provides advice and support to parents, teachers, educators and operators involved in behavioral and learning disorders of developmental age. Applause for everyone. And see you in 2025.
