The curtain falls on the 2024 edition of Carnevali di Marca. The last weekend – a recovery of the parades not held on 10 and 11 February due to bad weather – proposed the events of Zenson di Piave (last night) and Vittorio Veneto (today), where the procession of allegorical floats was accompanied by a large audience: masks and confetti, music and imagination for the enjoyment of adults and children. It was supposed to be a party and it was a party, even if Mardi Gras has now passed for a couple of weeks.
Yesterday, Saturday 24 February, in Zenson di Piave, an estimated 2,500 people were present for the third night parade (after Nervesa della Battaglia and Santa Lucia di Piave) of the 2024 edition of Carnevali di Marca. The illuminated allegorical floats passed through the streets of the town starting at 8pm, arriving in front of the town hall. A highly evocative evening, accompanied by the voice of Silvia Sartorel. In the procession, nine allegorical floats and masked groups. The parade was opened by the Onda Azzurra Majorettes of Jesolo. Followed by the “Virgilio Marcon” elementary school of Zenson di Piave, the GDS Junior Giada dance school (theme: “Sleepless Night”), The Sisters (“The 100 years by Walt Disney”), the IRagazzi del Basso Piave association float (“The Myth of Perseus”), the Eraclea Carnival group (“The Minions”), the La Gang of Ponte Crepaldo float (“The Giungla”), the float Giovani di San Giuseppe (“The cheerful farm”) and the Amici di Isiata association float (“Pierino against everyone”). Closing, once the parade is over, with an appreciated magic show and entertainment for adults and children.
In Vittorio Veneto the last weekend of the Marca Carnivals began yesterday afternoon, Saturday 24 February, with shows and games for families in Piazza del Popolo. The Barbamoccolo company proposed Candy Circus, a very entertaining juggling and theater show, while the great Ballerina Bear sparked the curiosity of the little ones. Also successful for the face painting with Elena from Elly Animation. Today, Sunday 25 February, the highly anticipated parade through the streets of the centre, starting at 2.30pm, accompanied by the voices of Roberto Biz and Federico Campodall’Orto. The unpromising day from a meteorological point of view did not penalize the party, so much so that the audience was estimated at 20 thousand people. There will be 16 floats and masked groups on the catwalk. The parade opened with the Parrocchia di Sarmede – Asd Time for Dancing (“Harry Potter”) group. Followed by the “Alessandro Manzoni” primary school of Vittorio Veneto (“Il Medioevo”), the “W el paron dei peri” group of Casella d’Asolo (“Le Allegre Arlecchine”), the Allegra Comitiva of Bidasio of Nervesa of the Battle (“With your head in the clouds”), the APS Fuori Giri float of Losson di Meolo (“Le Caravelle”), the float of the Youth Group of Cavolano (“I Paraonici”), the float of the Parish Group of Nervesa della Battaglia (“The sea and the animal deluge”), the Santa Maria del Rovere sports club mask group (“Venetian Grand Lords”), the cultural association group “Yo Soy Dominicano Aquí y Allá” of the Dominican Republic, the Amici di Levada (“Barbie”), the group Questa Maledetta Banda (“Banda Bassotti”), the group Coriandolando per Pieve (“The Flintstones”), the group Dal Santo di Prata (“Olandiamo”), the group Quei de Soligo (“ Disneyland de Soligo”), the Fon Fierun Corbanese group (“The Tribe of the Fon Fierun”) and the Colombere Cusignana Committee (“The enchantment of nature”).
The last act of the 2024 edition of Carnevali di Marca will be the closing gala which on Saturday 16 March at the “Giovanni Paolo II” oratory of San Vendemiano will also host the ticket draw for the traditional charity lottery. The Marca Carnivals association is not just about masked floats, joy and confetti. Like every year, the Treviso Carnival events were combined with the traditional charity lottery. During the fashion shows it was possible to purchase tickets at a cost of 2.50 euros, hoping for a lucky draw (the total prize pool is 25 thousand euros) but knowing that in any case, for each ticket sold, 10 cents will be donated to associations of the territory engaged in volunteering and social activities. First prize, in collaboration with Sarlo Group, a splendid Peugeot 208 Active 5-door km0 worth 21,500 euros. And then another 30 prizes in the form of good shopping at the Maxì Supermarkets and at Toffolatti Gioielli. The last gifts of a Carnival to remember.
