Last day for the exhibition dedicated to mountain agriculture and there is also Gelato Day
New entry at Agrimont. At the farm set up by Arav (Veneto regional breeders association) new guests arrived today. It is Lora, a filly of the Avelignese breed who will keep company with Brunello, a donkey baby, very sweet together with his mother, and who is driving children and families crazy. Tomorrow (Sunday 23 March) will be the last day to admire them and also to take a selfie. For the mountain agriculture fair, in fact, it will be the closing day, after two intense weekends of appointments, insights and meetings. And the farm space will once again be one of the most popular with families and children, who can see the farm animals with their own eyes: horses, donkeys, rabbits, but also alpacas, sheep and goats.


GELATO DAY
The European Artisan Gelato Day will also please young and old, which will be celebrated tomorrow as per tradition within Agrimont, with particular attention to the short supply chain and the valorization of the ingredients that make up the gelato. On this occasion, the Hallelujah flavor will be presented and offered for tasting, a gianduia variegated with chocolate that celebrates the 2025 Jubilee, and an organic mountain fiordilatte variegated with honey from the Dolomites. Within the Gelato Day, an anniversary established by the European Union, also the Pocchiesa Award, in memory of the historic press officer of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, which this year goes to Angelo Grasso, an important figure for the world of artisan gelato thanks to the great contribution given and that he continues to give to the growth and valorization of the sector, above all through the intense teacher training activity in over a thousand courses, author of many articles that continue to appear in sector magazines, without forgetting his highly appreciated publications.
FARMING AND SURROUNDINGS
Today, meanwhile, Agrimont has put the spotlight on silkworm breeding and goat breeding, with an ad hoc conference on the Innovation Brokering Csr 2023-2027 project “Vene-To-Goat”. Mountain goat farming is evolving and shows more and more young people active in the mountains, with benefits for both biodiversity and sustainability: goat farming in fact consumes one tenth of the water used by cattle farming. Also today, the anti-catastrophe toolkit with Life Vaia, the agriforestry project of Veneto Agricoltura that launched the “honey of rebirth”, which will be used to variegate the fiordilatte ice cream of Gelato Day.
Tomorrow’s program (Sunday 23) will include an in-depth study on mountain beekeeping (at 9), with an entomologist from the Edmund Mach Foundation, who in recent days was a guest on Geo, a successful and historic Rai3 program, to talk about bees and honey; and a focus on meteorology (at 9.30 and 11) entitled “Discover how the weather will influence agriculture in Belluno”, with Jacopo Bridda, meteorologist and community manager of Meteored Italia.
