One week to the European Duathlon Championships in Caorle: 160 committed volunteers

Viability, logistics, routes, secretariat, pasta party, set-up, many areas of “work”

One week to the European Duathlon Sprint Élite, Paraduathlon and Age Group Championships and the European Duathlon Standard Age Group Championships. Anticipation is rising for the multi-discipline event scheduled in Caorle (VE), March 17-19. And if more than 580 athletes are registered, the number of volunteers will also be important. There will be 160 “angels” of the duathletes who will donate their time for the realization of the first continental review of the year in which medals will be awarded.

These “guardian angels” by the way will not only be engaged for the three days from the event, but they have been activated even weeks ago. Many are the roles that these volunteers will have to fill, from the logistICa of the start and finish to the banner-making, from the preparation and delivery of the race packs to the motostaffetta, from those responsible along the route to those who will take care of the refreshments and the pasta party, from those who will take care of all the inflatables to those who will set up the race field, but also all the “headquarters,” including the management of the secretariat and coordination. No less than the commitment to the road system, with the coordination of the Caorle Local Police. On Saturday 18 the races will start at 8:30 a.m., with the last race scheduled at 5 p.m. (ending around 6:15 p.m.), while on Sunday 19 the first race is on the lineup at 8:30 a.m., with the conclusion of the competition estimated at around 12:45 p.m. There will be vehicular traffic closures, at time slots depending on the juncture of the race, on the streets affected by the passage of the athletes. On Saturday afternoon, full reopening is planned in the cycling fraction, while maintaining garrisons, from 3 to 3:15 p.m., from 4 to 4:15 p.m., from 5 to 5:15 p.m. and then from 6 p.m. onward.

“Caorle is preparing to host a major continental-level sports competition,” explains Sports Councillor Mattia Munerotto, “We will have some of the greatest European and Italian champions with us. Some inconvenience for the road system will be inevitable, but it will certainly be worth it, both for the spectacle offered and for the important return of image for our tourist destination. I want to thank the Local Police of Caorle, which is offering maximum support to the Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto organizers to ensure the success of the event, without forgetting the valuable contribution of the volunteers.”

The event is organized by Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto, supported by Europe Triathlon, the Italian Triathlon Federation and the Municipal Administration of Caorle, under the patronage of the Veneto Region, with the support of the Metropolitan City of Venice, the Municipality of San Stino di Livenza, the Local Police of Caorle, the San Stino Local Police and Venezia Expomar Caorle Srl and the collaboration of several sports and volunteer associations from the provinces of Venice and Treviso. The contribution of the partners Silca SpA, Banca Prealpi SanBiagio, Pasol, Amadio F.lli SpA, Méthode, San Benedetto, Promosport, Crios, Errea, Borgoluce, Kiron, Doge Logistica, Agenzia Lampo, Officine Ghizzo, Scatolificio Sarcinelli, Sogno Veneto, Lanificio Bottoli, Lazzarin Caffè and Eurovelo was fundamental.
