‘Pink pedal ride’ for over 200: a success for the Longarone Fiere Dolomiti initiative

Anticipation grows for the Dolomite stage, with the Tre Cime “Cima Coppi” of the Giro 2023

A colourful party on the pedals enlivened the Longarone Fiere Dolomiti area today. The ‘Pedalata rosa’ brought over 200 people to ride along the cycle path from Soverzene for a day that anticipates the cycling binge of the coming days, when Longarone will see the Oderzo-Palafavera stage pass by (25 May) and above all will be the start of the tappone dolomitico (26 May).

Families, children, cycling enthusiasts… the ‘Pedalata rosa’ – organised by Longarone Fiere Dolomiti with the collaboration of the Veloce Club – put everyone in the saddle. There were racing bikes, mountain bikes, city and Gravel bikes, and the ever-present e-bikes. One group started from Villa Montalban in Belluno. Another from Ponte nelle Alpi and yet another from Paiane. All met in the square of Soverzene for the ‘zero kilometre’ and the actual start. Then off along the cycle path, with a stop in Provagna for refreshments organised by the local club, and arrival at Longarone Fiere where a pasta party organised by the Proloco di Longarone was waiting for the cyclists.

The start in Soverzene underlines a historic passage of the Giro, which this year for the first time in its history will pass through the village on the Sinistra Piave, in the Oderzo-Palafavera stage. The town is already festively decorated, with artistic installations at the most significant points. The passage through Soverzene, as well as the start of the ‘Pedalata rosa’, were strongly desired by the Province and the stage committee in order to enhance the cycle path, which represents a piece of the Venice-Munich route, an infrastructure of great impact for cycling tourism in the Belluno area.

Now Longarone Fiere Dolomiti is looking forward to the two days of the Giro. On Thursday 25 May at 7 p.m. there will be the inauguration of the ‘Villaggio in rosa’ (Pink Village), set up in the exhibition spaces, followed by the Pink Night with DJ set. The following day, the Longarone-Tre Cime di Lavaredo stage (Cima Coppi of the Giro 2023) will start right from the Exhibition Centre and can be followed on a maxi-screen from the pavilions.

The ‘Village in Pink’ will host an aperitif and party with music both on Friday 26 and Saturday 27, when the sports festival and the long ‘Pink Impact’ night with Radio Piterpan are also scheduled.
