Agrimont confirms itself as the spring fair most loved by the public. Not only professionals, but also hobbyists and families, who find products and services for gardening, vegetable gardens, forest cleaning and much more. In fact, the second day of the national mountain agriculture fair (also taking place at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti next weekend, March 21-22-23) confirmed a large influx from the early hours of the morning. Full pavilions, queues at the ticket office. So much so that the first weekend is going towards a +20% of admissions compared to last year.
«These are important numbers, for a fair that is 44 years old, and continues to grow, thanks to the quality of the proposal, which embraces different target audiences» comments Giovanni De Lorenzi, CEO of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti. “At Agrimont, those who have a vegetable garden or a garden, those who want to prepare firewood for heating at home, families with children who can see the educational farm with farm animals, but also agricultural entrepreneurs and professionals, thanks to an offer of 30 conferences and moments of technical study will find services and products suited to their needs”.
MILK SUPPLY CHAIN
Today, one of the in-depth studies concerned the milk supply chain. Arav (Veneto Regional Breeders Association) and Coldiretti have put raw milk production under the magnifying glass, with a focus on the importance and management of biosecurity in the stable and milking for niche dairy production. So space for mountain cheese, a great excellence of the Belluno area.
The theme is more felt than ever in the mountain area, given that Belluno is the Veneto province with the largest number of young or very young dairy cow breeders. In fact, 38% of the livestock entrepreneurs in the Belluno area are “millennials”. A significant fact that also derives from the cooperative work implemented by Lattebusche in the protection and promotion of breeding and dairy production.
BEEKEEPING
In addition to milk, technical insights were also dedicated to the world of beekeeping, with two conferences organized by Apimarca, the Treviso beekeepers’ association. In the first, the techniques for managing apiaries were explained. In the second, the focus was on the breeding of queen bees.
THE TASTE OF AGRIMONT
Apimarca also has a stand with a tasting tour of the local honey varieties, where it is possible to appreciate the different types of the fruit of the bees. Those with a sweet tooth will also find the “Locanda di Campagna Amica” at Agrimont, that is, the peasant cuisine curated by Coldiretti, where the show cooking of peasant chefs, the agri-aperitif with zero-mile products and the lunch with typical flavors are presented.
